Welcome to my About Me page, where you will hopefully learn a little more about me. Pretty straightforward, right?
I sometimes have to remind myself “this is my blog” so that’s okay if I sound somewhat egotistical, which ironically in person I hate the attention…okay, it depends on the situation. When having an in-person conversation with someone new, I rarely talk about myself – no it’s not because I’m socially awkward and can’t form sentences to the public, which I’d actually like to clear up I am a very good conversationalist! I’m just selectively social. – When people meet me for the first time, most of them love to spill their entire life story. As if looking for validation or seeking an admirer. Which then gives me no time to fully introduce myself, instead I’m nodding or commenting on their point. I’ve grown to love this personal privacy…or how the British pronounce it “privesy”.
So here’s me introducing myself.
Who is “Em”
Em is a nickname my best friend at the time gave me, short for Emilia. I like to stick in everyone’s faces that Emilia Clarke and I share the same first name which I like to think it gives me the permission to call myself Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons…there isn’t an obvious correlation, but it’s there trust me!
To sum myself up in an informative yet somewhat brief way, I love to read books and play video games (primarily Skyrim Elder Scrolls V, it’s the best video game out there, you can not change my mind). I’m an introverted extrovert, which just means I am really good at socializing if I need to, but I do get drained rather than energized, and most of the time I just want to be with anyone from my small group of people I love. I consider myself an advisor/right hand/advocate/partner in crime, rather than the leader (I’ve always had an attraction to the leader-type guys) even though I’m the one in the group making the decisions and I am one who brings everyone together, I guess I’m Gandalf. I’m an avid movie and TV show watcher, if I find a movie or show I love, I have no problem with rewatching it. I kid you not I’m rewatching FRIENDS for the 18th time now, yes I’ve pretty much memorized the show by heart. I love to learn. I love to write. I love tea (GOD I love tea! Green tea, hate coffee) I love using my imagination and creativity, “Imagination is more important than knowledge” – Albert Einstein. Thanks Albert.
When, Why, What, and How of my reading
My reading journey began when I was twelve years old…indeed I am a late reader. My mom bought me Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan, along with The Last Dragon Chronicles by Chris d’Lacey from Scholastic, I remember being so excited about receiving my first book mail and reading something besides Geronimo Stilton because my mom kept throwing shade at me for being twelve and still reading them. I chose to read The Lightning Theif first. Oh boy, was I in for an adventure! Throughout the series, I was on an emotional roller coaster, reading was never this enjoyable and I couldn’t stop. Once I’ve finished the series I remembering falling into post-series-depression, the “nothing will ever be as good as the lightning thief series” and “I can’t let go of Percy Jackson” rang in my head constantly. Then after some time, I finally read Black Beauty, Robinson Crusoe, The Giver, etc. Percy Jackson and the Olympians will always be close to my heart. Please don’t mention the garbage movie adaptations, those never happened.
Reading isn’t something that should be rushed, it is something that you have to try, and something that you will enjoy once you’ve found the right book. Reading is a time of learning, finding hope, falling in love, going on an adventure, or running away into a fictional world. If you’re having trouble finding the perfect book, hopefully I can help. I will always post a non-spoiler part of my review on the top of my posts, and hopefully, help you find your next read!
Now that you’ve got to know me, you should now be comfortable diving into the wisdom, wit, and craziness this blog contains. I hope you learn something,
